Dwayne R. Bond [Lead Pastor]
Pastor Dwayne R. Bond accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in the late 1980’s during his undergraduate college years. After graduating from the University of Maryland (College Park) with a B.S. in Finance (1988), he entered the sales profession within Corporate America in hopes of acquiring the “American dream.” While pursuing a vibrant sales career, he received a call to the ministry in June 1991. Since then, he has been committed to becoming equipped to serve the Lord in vocational Christian ministry. Pastor Bond began his theological studies at Capital Bible Seminary (CBS), later transferring to Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (LBTS) where he received a Master of Arts in Religion (1999). At the climax of his Executive Sales career, he developed a heavy burden for lost and hurting people. Though others considered it ludicrous, he stepped out on faith and resigned from his sales career to pursue a counseling degree. God had a plan for Pastor Bond, one that paid eternal dividends, unlike the rising six-figure income from Corporate America from which he had walked away.
Pastor Bond returned to CBS to pursue a Master of Arts in Christian Counseling and Discipleship. While in seminary, God used him in leading and co-leading small groups in the local church on men’s issues and parenting. In January 2000, he was ordained at Woodstream Church in Mitchellville, MD. Pastor Bond graduated Magna Cum Laude from CBS in 2001. Following graduation, God opened the door for him to become a full-time adjunct professor in the counseling department of CBS and the Minister of Counseling & Men’s Ministries at Woodstream Church. In January 2003, he began pursuing his PhD in Professional Counseling from LBTS. He is expected to graduate by the end of 2007.
In addition to being a seminary professor, Pastor Bond taught over 85 men weekly in the Men’s Institute and gave oversight to the Brothers Keepers Men’s Ministry. Simultaneously, he carried a demanding counseling load. He developed a Lay Counseling Ministry at Woodstream Church which offered the Body of Christ relational tools for impacting hurting people. When his schedule permitted, Pastor Bond spoke at churches, conferences and retreats.
Currently, he is committed to discipling, encouraging and empowering men in their roles as husbands, fathers and professionals. Pastor Bond’s heartbeat is preaching, Bible teaching, counseling and family ministry. His passion is to motivate the masses to become a Christ-like community of relational maturity.
Pastor Bond has been married for over 16 years to his lovely wife Leslie who is his partner in ministry, a full-time family manager and a home educator. They formerly resided in Upper Marlboro, MD with their three delightful children: Jarami (13), Imani (9) and Kamin (5). In obedience to God’s calling, Pastor Bond and his family relocated to Charlotte, NC in February 2006.
